UV Product Printing

Direct-to-Media (DTM) Printing is when we print directly onto the surface of a material or substrate, including, but not limited to, glass, acrylic, wood, and metal. We can print on almost any flat surface up to 70mm thick.

Our UV Printing Process

Our digital workflow is built for speed, transparency, and striking 1,440 DPI accuracy. Here is exactly how we bring your custom products to life:

Step 1: Artwork Submission & Technical Check

Submit your design files and product specifications so our production team can verify compatibility with our UV flatbed limits:

Artwork Requirements: High-resolution 300 DPI PNG (transparent background) or vector formats (.AI, .EPS, .PDF).

Maximum Print Footprint: Standard A4 size (210x297mm).

Maximum Product Height: Rigid substrates up to 70mm thick.

Step 3: Precision Production & Instant UV Curing

Your project hits the workshop floor using advanced Epson Micro Piezo™ printheads and a 6-colour Ultrachrome® UV ink set. As the machine prints with absolute precision, integrated UV lights instantly cure the ink. This permanent chemical bond ensures zero smudging, zero colour bleeding, and a highly scratch-resistant finish.

Step 2: Print Method Selection (Flatbed vs. UV DTF)

We select the optimal production path based entirely on your product’s geometry:

Direct Flatbed Printing (Flat Items & Curves <2mm): We engineer custom in-house alignment jigs to lock items such as phone cases, pens, and slate coasters perfectly flat for direct-to-substrate printing.

UV DTF Print Transfers (360° Wraps & Irregular Shapes): We print your artwork, white backing, and varnish onto specialised film to create heavy-duty, contour-moulding transfer decals for seamless wraps on bottles or tumblers.

Step 4: Quality Control & Insured Dispatch

Every item is hand-inspected under high-intensity workshop lighting to verify edge retention, registration alignment, and varnish consistency. Once approved, your order is securely packed and dispatched via tracked, fully insured delivery.

FAQs About Our UV Printing Services

From product dimensions and varnish finishes to artwork layers and turnaround times, our FAQs cover it all. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch with our UV printing specialists—we’re always happy to help.

  • UV product printing is a high-definition, direct-to-substrate digital printing process. Using our Epson SureColor V1000 flatbed printer, we place your item directly inside the machine. The printer applies specialised Ultrachrome® UV inks to the surface, which are instantly cured (dried) by integrated UV lights.

Because the ink cures immediately, we can print crisp text, vibrant full-colour logos, and complex graphics directly onto 3D objects with a maximum print resolution of 1,440 x 1,440 DPI, all without smudging or colour bleeding.

  • Yes, we use two advanced methods to customise round and curved objects using our Epson V1000 system, depending on your design:

    • 1. Direct Flatbed Printing (For Small Curves & Flat Panels): For items with a slight or shallow curve—such as pens, golf balls, lip balms, or flat-sided travel flasks—we print directly onto the product using custom positioning jigs. To maintain absolute sharpness and prevent ink blurring, the design must remain within a 2mm ink-throw window at the centre apex of the object.

    • 2. UV DTF Print Transfers (For 360° Seamless Full Wraps): If you need a design that wraps completely around a curved bottle, glass tumbler, or irregular 3D shape, we use the printer to create a UV DTF (Direct to Film) transfer. We print your artwork, white backing, and high-gloss varnish onto a specialised film sheet. You receive a premium, heavy-duty decal that can be applied directly to the curved product by hand, moulding perfectly to the shape with flawless, crisp definition.

The Verdict: Whether you need a simple centred pen logo or a complex wrap-around bottle design, our dual setup delivers high-impact, 1,440 DPI colour accuracy for both.

  • Our Epson flatbed system is designed for small- to medium-sized objects, custom items, and promotional merchandise. The dimensional limits for our machinery are:

    • Maximum Print Area: Up to standard A4 size (21.0 x 29.7 cm).

    • Maximum Product Thickness/Height: We can accommodate rigid products up to 70mm (7cm) thick.

This makes it the perfect setup for items like phone cases, power banks, custom coasters, corporate pens, acrylic blocks, slate, and flat metal components.

  • Yes, absolutely. Our machine utilises an advanced 6-colour ink configuration that includes dedicated White ink and Varnish channels.

    • White Ink Layering: When printing on dark or transparent substrates (such as black metal or clear acrylic), we first lay down a solid white ink base. This ensures your colored logo stays vibrant and colour-accurate, rather than fading into the background.

    • Gloss & Matte Varnish Finishes: We can apply a clear varnish layer to your print. This can be used as a full coat for a high-gloss finish, or selectively applied to create textured, raised, or spot-gloss effects that look and feel premium.

  • We recommend choosing based on your branding guidelines and the item's material:

    • Choose UV Product Printing if you require full-colour graphics, gradients, exact Pantone colour matching, or high-gloss finishes. It deposits a microscopic, durable layer of ink onto the product.

    • Choose Laser Engraving if you want an indestructible, permanent marking etched into the material. Laser engraving doesn't use ink; it relies on exposing the bare substrate beneath the surface.

Combining both methods on a single product, such as a colour-printed logo next to a deeply engraved name on a wooden box, is highly popular and creates a premium, multi-textured result.

  • Our UV printer head safely handles a range of rigid boards and 3D substrates, allowing us to print directly on metals, wood, acrylics, glass, ceramics, and rigid plastics.

In terms of durability, the Ultrachrome® UV ink chemically bonds to the surface during curing, making it highly scratch-, fade-, and water-resistant. For everyday handling and corporate use, it is built to last. However, for drinkware or promotional mugs, we recommend hand washing only to maintain the pristine look of the ink and gloss varnish.

  • To hit that maximum 1,440 DPI print quality, your files should meet the following specifications:

    • File Formats: High-resolution PNG (with transparent backgrounds) or vector formats like .AI, .EPS, and .PDF.

    • Resolution: 300 DPI preferred for clean, sharp edges.

    • Special Finishes: If your design requires spot varnish or specific white-ink underlays, please separate these elements into distinct layers or contact our design team for assistance.
