The laser engraving process involves using computer software to adjust the intensities and speed of a high-powered laser beam that is projected through a series of mirrors and refined through a focal lens to heat up and vaporise the surface of a material to leave behind a permeant mark.
Whether you want to add your logo to a product, create custom signage, or personalise a gift, laser engraving is the perfect solution. It allows for the engraving of intricate detailing that is almost impossible to achieve by hand whilst still creating a clean and crisp finish.
-
The nature of our business is bespoke, and every project is one-of-a-kind and, therefore, requires a tailored quote, depending on the following factors:
Artwork Requirements
Laser machines require a vector file in the appropriate format and settings to engrave correctly. Artwork can take 15 minutes to several hours, depending on the complexity.
Set-up
Setting up a laser machine for engraving can be a time-intensive process due to several factors. Firstly, the object to be engraved must be accurately positioned within the machine. This alignment is crucial for precise engraving and may require multiple adjustments. Lastly, the laser parameters, such as power, speed, and pulse frequency, must be set according to the material's properties.
Detailed Artwork
This needs to be engraved at a lower speed and smaller intervals to achieve a clean, crisp finish, affecting the processing time.
Engraving at Depth
A laser beam must pass over the same area multiple times to engrave at depth, which increases the processing time.

To provide an accurate quote, we ideally need a vector file. The most common types of vector files are AI (Adobe Illustrator), DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) and SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). Please also provide us with an idea of the scale.
If you're unable to send us a vector file, please send us what you can to show your idea.
-
When it comes to how deep the engraving will be, it's essentially a balancing act.
You must apply large amounts of heat to a material's surface to engrave at depth. Certain materials such as metal, wood or acrylic are ideal for withstanding these heat levels. Glassware, however, when subjected to large amounts of heat from the laser beam, can result in the glass chipping or, worse, cracking. Additionally, engraving at depth can detract from the overall design if the design/motif has a large amount of detailing.
So, how deep will your engraving be? We will always endeavour to engrave as deeply as possible without compromising the quality of the outcome or damaging/distorting the material/item in question.
-
Yes - 100%
We are more than happy for our customers to provide us with their own materials to be laser cut, engraved and marked. Additionally, you can shop our extensive range of acrylics, woods, laminates and rubber through our online shop.
-
No, laser engraving does not rub off.
During the laser engraving process, a laser beam will melt/remove the material's surface in the shape of your design, making the engraving permanent and resistant to wear and tear, including rubbing off.
Additionally, we can adjust the depth of the engraving depending on the material and the desired outcome.
